Romanian Journal of European Affairs (RJEA) is the first Romanian academic publication to display the research on current European topics, hosting papers written by renowned authors (Romanian and international professionals). RJEA is published by the European Institute of Romania, a public institution whose mission is to provide expertise in the field of European Affairs to the public administration, the business community, the social partners and the civil society. More details about EIR can be found here.
In 2024, the editorial policy includes, primarily but not limited to, analyses on topics such as: climate change, energy transition, digital transformation, economic and monetary affairs, single market, social policies, democracy, security, the impact of the war in Ukraine on various European policies, migration, the EU’s enlargement process and treaty reforms.
Since 2001, the journal has hosted over 300 articles written by authors from EU Member States (Czech Republic, Estonia, Germany, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Spain, etc.), Turkey, Ukraine and others.
Considering the recognition of the RJEA’s added-value in the European debates, the journal was indexed in various international scientific databases, such as: Clarivate Analytics (former Thomson Reuters) – Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI), ProQuest, SCOPUS, EBSCO, HeinOnline, Cabell’s Directory, DOAJ – Directory of Open Access Journals, SSRN – Social Science Research Network, World Affairs Online (WAO) – IREON, INFOBASE INDEX and Scimago Journal and Country Rank. Furthermore, the journal is indexed in Central and Eastern European Online Library (CEEOL), ERIH PLUS and IndexCopernicus Journal Master List.
Starting with 2017, due to several updates in the editorial policy, the journal is issued on a semi-annual basis (June and December), being published exclusively in English.
The journal applies the BOAI definition of open access: users have the right to “read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of these articles”.
